How To Optimize Your Brand's Presence In Google Search

When’s the last time you googled yourself?

While social media sites like Instagram are being increasingly used as a search engine, Google is still king - especially if that is what your target audience is using. And if you have your own business, what people first see when they google you can tank their interest, and make them turn to the next. After all, there are over 25,000 real estate agents in Massachusetts alone. So if you’re a realtor in New England, you can’t afford to leave a bad first impression.

One of the loose ends we often see has to do with Google My Business Listings. If you google a business, like Drone Home Media for example, you’ll see our GMB profile with all of our contact info, reviews, photos, and relevant links on the right hand side of the page. It’s everything you need to know about a business at a glance, and in today’s world, sometimes a glance is all potential clients will give you before moving on.

So what are the common flaws with Google My Business listings, and how can they be solved?

One of the biggest issues we see is poor photography. Google requires you to upload a picture of your storefront to include in your profile, to prove to people you have a physical location they can visit. And if this is a low effort phone picture, then the only rational “at a glance” takeaway is that your business is low effort across the board. You can also upload photography of your products and services, but don't bother if you don't have nice pictures as they can make or break that first impression.

Are you a realtor, interior designer, or stager? Then pictures like these should be popping up when people Google you.

Quality photography on your Google My Business profile can help potential clients visualize the context for your first meeting, which makes scheduling it that much more enticing. But what if they can’t get in touch with you?

We’ve had plenty of social media clients who have come to us with incorrect phone numbers and website links as well, and it’s more common than you think. Their office set it up for them, they didn’t know they had one, their relative or friend did it and lost the password… the list goes on.

Your Google My Business profile could be the only chance you get to win over someone who is looking for a buyer’s or seller’s agent - so don’t let them down with poor photography, or outdated contact info! Drone Home Media is here to help, and if you want professional pictures for your business, personalized brand management, or a one-stop-shop for marketing services, now you know who to call.
